The XIX Winter Games in Salt Lake City. This guy's story started out ridiculous and ended up being preposterous. Steven Bradbury on paper should never have made it past the quarter finals. He was able to advanced from the quarterfinals to the semifinals when a crash ended up giving him second place. As if that was not enough - he also advanced from the semifinals into the Olympic final the same way!
